The Saigon Jokers started game two of the day following the recent trend of swapping top and bottom lanes. Though SAJ was able to take down an early turret at top as a result, SGS replied quickly by taking down a turret at the bottom lane.
Through the early to mid game both teams struggled to gain the upper ground. Each time SGS pulled ahead, NIXWATER would use his Destiny and Gate to even the exchange keeping SAJ close behind. At the 13 minute mark, SGS made a poor call to take the dragon which allowed SAJ to take two towers at the middle lane. The mistake gave SAJ a slight gold lead but SGS responded with a push of their own which paid off thanks to a nice tower dive by d4rkness.
Just as things were looking up for SGS the tables turned again. Both teams clashed in the jungle but SAJ gained the upper hand early in the fight, catching Tofu and HarLeLuYar off guard. Despite being on the losing side, SGS chose to commit fully to the fight resulting in a 4:1 exchange. During the second half of the game, the tides of battle swung in favour of both teams multiple times but SAJ was able to take down the first inhibitor in the middle lane. SGS however, was able to counter-push and take the bottom inhibitor in exchange as SAJ was retreating.
Because of the long distance from the bottom lane to the baron, SGS was able to take the baron and gain a lead once again. SAJ appeared too late and were caught as they tried to scout the area. Before long SGS was knocking on their doorstep with the baron buff in hand. In the game deciding battle, both NIXWATER and Archie were caught out as SGS dove straight at them, ending the game in spectacular fashion.
Key Plays:
- NIXWATER’s expert use of Destiny and Gate keep SAJ close behind in gold despite SGS’s numerous gank attempts
- Both teams exchange the lead several times throughout the mid to late game
- SGS’s destruction of the bottom inhibitor allows them to take out baron and gain the lead they needed to end the game
