As picks and bans for the game ended, it was clear that TPA fielded a very strong mid-game lineup with the ability to pull off devastating ganks at level 6. In order for SGS to win they would have to ensure that TPA didn’t make full use of this potential.
During the first part of the match HarLeLuYar managed to execute several ganks on the top and bottom lane. Despite being ahead in kills, however, TPA managed to maintain an even gold amount through better lane control. At the top lane Stanley’s Jayce proved to be a potent counter to Tofu’s Irelia and at the bottom lane d4rkness and Equivocal found themselves unable to deal with the Graves and Lulu combo.
One of the key points of the match came early on as Tofu died in a 3-man gank at the top lane. TPA decided to push the lane thereafter and in response SGS went for dragon. TPA took two top turrets in exchange and came out far ahead in the trade thanks to the additional map control from taking out two turrets early on.
As the teams hit level 6, d4rkness made the fatal error of being overly aggressive at the bottom lane. Lilballz and Toyz took immediate advantage of the situation, scoring a double kill and putting TPA 2k gold ahead. SGS fought back by taking the second dragon while TPA based and this helped even the score out.
The next big battle came as SGS dived the bottom tower, scoring to kills on Toyz and MiSTakE but overextended their stay leading to a poor 3:2 exchange. As the third dragon respawned, both SGS and TPA gathered for a team fight. Tofu led the charge, followed quickly by HarLeLuYar but the two were unable to catch anyone except Stanley who was too thick to burst down. Toyz made a brilliant move hiding in the nearby brush allowing him to pop in and out dealing constant damage throughout the fight. The end result was a 4:1 exchange in favour of TPA.
As the late game drew closer it became apparent that SGS lacked the damage to deal with Jayce and he was becoming a huge problem in team fights. In an uncharacteristically poor move, d4rkness and HarLeLuYar teleported back to base at the same time leaving TPA with an opportunity to baron. Chawy noticed this and moved to stop them but only got caught alone. The rest of SGS streamed in one by one, only to get chewed up by the fearsome TPA machine. With 4 kills and no deaths, TPA claimed baron.
SGS held out as long as they could but as the second baron came up, they were caught unready again. TPA grabbed the objective before SGS could arrive and swept them up in another 4:1 exchange before winning the game in spectacular fashion.
Key Plays:
- SGS leads the early game in kills but TPA’s lane control keeps the score firmly even
- TPA pulls off a 3-man top gank and SGS retaliates by taking dragon in exchange for two top turrets
- HarLeLuYar and d4rkness teleport back to base at the same time allowing TPA to take baron
- Once again SGS gets caught unready as the second baron respawns giving TPA a free objective
